Remodeling the Master Bath

The renovation of the master bath is becoming one of the most popular home decorating projects. Having a well designed master bath is a great investment if you ever sell your home. There are many ways in which you can do a bathroom remodeling project. If you have a master bath that is not very spacious you can paint the walls in muted soft colors to give the illusion of space. In the bathroom you could also paint one of the walls a bold bright color to give it a burst of color. An example would be painting three walls of your master bath in an off white color with the last wall you can tile it in turquoise blue. This will help give your bathroom the right balance between color and spaciousness. If you are in doubt about colors choose neutral colors like beige, steel gray, tan, and taupe.

Another way to give your master bath a spacious look is to use light colors on the flooring. Choose tiling in colors of tan, soft gray, or powder blue. If you want to add drama to your master bath remodeling project you can use white and black checkered tiles. Make sure that you are not using mini tiles for the floor because it can give a cramped look to the bathroom. You can use these mini tiles on the walls. If you have a color scheme of the flooring light you can then use dark-colored accessories like murals and towels to add some color. Using mirrors is not only functional but it also reflects the light so your bathroom looks larger. Strategically place the mirrors on the walls and above your sink to create more light in the room. On the door of your bathroom you could install stained glass on the door.

Install cabinets below the bathroom sink or vanity to give you more storage. You can also create shelves above your bathtub to store body wash, decorative items, and shampoos. If it is just a bathtub with no shower you could also put extra towels and washcloths there. For dirty towels you could put a wicker basket under the sink. You can also put a small cabinet in the hallway near your master bath to store extra supplies.

Other master bath remodeling ideas can include:

• Use large mosaic tiles around your shower, bathtub, or sink as an accent decorative finish.

• If you have pastel tiles or walls coordinate your towels with matching shades of chocolate, charcoal, and coffee.

• You can use muslin curtains or venetian blinds for your windows.
